The theater named after V.F. Komissarzhevskaya was formed in Leningrad on October 18, 1942 as the “City Theater”. Since the autumn of 1944, it was called the Leningrad Drama Theater. Later, in 1959, the theater received the name of Faith Feodorovna Komissarzhevskaya.

St. Petersburg is the cradle of the famous Russian ballet created by Marius Petipa in the 19th century. There are many famous state theaters in St. Petersburg such as Mariinsky and Mikhailovsky. Unfortunately, these theatres very rarely go on tour outside Russia, therefore very few ballet lovers of the world are able to see the famous St. Petersburg ballet.

Elegance, grace, delightful lightness is what makes the St. Petersburg ballet different, the strict classic elegance, a fresh breath of the twenty‐first century, a perfect dance performance in combination with a truly royal splendor of costumes and scenery by world‐famous Set and Costume Designer Vyacheslav Okunev (Bolshoi Theatre, Mariinsky Theatre, La Scala).

Outstanding soloists and dancers, marvelous set design and costumes combined with a magnificent light design and wonderful Tchaikovsky music, it is what the St. Petersburg Festival Ballet is offering the ballet lovers in all over the world.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's classic masterpiece is the Swan Lake ballet in three acts on the stage of the Hermitage Theater accompanied by a symphony orchestra.

The soul of the Russian ballet "Swan Lake" is considered one of the most popular and well-known performances in the whole world, whereas the white swan is not the first century the most famous symbol of Russian ballet. The talented production of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov has earned the opportunity to become a true masterpiece of Russian classical ballet.

The plot of the play is a story of love and a curse, which will be reflected in each, as values ​​and ideals remain unchanged at all times. It is a thirst for life, and a hope for happiness, and a glorification of the ideal of beauty. The main characters - Princess Odette, Prince Siegfried in love, as well as the evil sorcerer Rothbard. The atmosphere of the magical action does not leave until the last minute.

Dress Code for St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre

There is no strict dress code for the St. Petersburg Ballet Theatre. Casual dress is accepted, for example you can wear jeans if you want. The only dress that are not allowed are shorts and T-shirts.
