Nikita Dmitrievsky (Set Designer)

Born in Moscow. In 1997 he graduated from the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (Moscow Academic Choreography School), and was admitted to the Bolshoi Ballet Company, performing the entire repertoire of the corps de ballet.

In addition to his studies at the Moscow Academic Choreography School he entered the Nikolai Ogryzkov School of Modern Dance.

Takes part in all contemporary dance festivals and seminars in Moscow. Studies with Philippe Decouflet, Pasqualine Verier, Raza Amada and teachers at the American Dance Festival (ADF).

In 2000 he won a competition and was admitted to the NDT, directed by Jiri Kylian.

During his time with the NDT he took part in the following productions: Solo (Hans van Manen), Animal Trigger (Yacopo Godani), Minus 16 (Ohad Naharin), Indigo Rose, Click, Pause, Silence, Six Dances (Jiri Kylian), Dream Play and Around Corner (Johan Inger).

In 2001 on his return from the Netherlands he worked with Harry Heiskanen on a production of the opera Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni) at the New Opera theatre.

In 2001 – 2002 he staged numerous miniatures for performers of Moscow theatres including Ilze Liepa, Yuri Klevtsov, Ellina Palshina, Anastasia Yatsenko, Anastasia Volochkova and Alexei Borzov.

In spring 2002 at the Bolshoi Theatre he staged the ballet Five Preludes (Bach, Rossini).

In 2003 in St Petersburg he staged premieres of two ballets – The Angel (Bach, Reich, Gordon) and White Nights (Schwartz).

In 2004 at the "Moscow" chamber ballet he staged the one-act ballet The Mirror, which was performed at the Benvenuto Danza Festival as the best contemporary Russian ballet of 2004.

Was recommended by Roland Petit to the Teatro San Carlo (Naples) to stage the ballet La solitudine del vento, premiered on 28 April 2004.
