Marc Heinz (Lighting Designer)
Marc Heinz's career in lighting design began in 1988 with the Toneelgroep
Amsterdam. In 1993 he took the decision to go freelance. He has since created
designs for, among many others, Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Royal Flemish Theatre
(Brussels), the Royal Dutch Theatre (Antwerp), NTG (Gent), The National Theatre
(The Hague), Het Paleis (Antwerp), Ro Theater (Rotterdam), Holland Festival,
Wiener Festwoche, the Festival of Old Music (Utrecht), the Opera Ahoy and The
National Tour Opera. He has designed operas in Rotterdam, Antwerp, Paris,
Basel, Amsterdam, Cologne, Hanover, Vienna, Munich, Mannheim, Berlin, Hamburg,
Düsseldorf, St Petersburg, Edinburgh, Vilnius, Utrecht, Arnhem and
Bratislava. The largest opera he has worked on was Aida at the Stade
de France (Paris) for an audience of eighty-five thousand. He also works on
TV productions, cabaret, special events and musicals such as
Fame, Anatevka, Oliver!, Blood Brothers, Grease, The Sound of Music,
Footloose, Cinderella and Rembrandt the Musical. Directors he
has worked with include Gerardjan Rijnders, Herbert Wernicke, Wilfried Minks,
Petrica Ionescu, Bernard Broca, Ken Caswell, Alize Zandwijk, Guy Cassiers,
Mariusz Trelinski, Johan Simons and Martin Michel. In 1993, Marc Heinz won an
award for his designs for the productions Glenn and Othello, both for
Toneelgroep Amsterdam.
