Alexandros Stavrakakis (Bass)

The young bass is currently member of Semperoper Dresden, where this season his roles include Colline La Bohème, Commendatore Don Giovanni, Curio Giulio Cesare in Egitto, Graf Lamoral Arabella, Reinmar von Zeter Tannhäuser, High Priest of Baal Nabucco, and Sprecher Die Zauberflöte

Outside of Dresden he has sung Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at Deutsche Oper Berlin, this season and will make his debut in Kultur Palast Dresden with Dresdner Philarmonie , conducted by Marek Janowski for a new production of Il Tabarro

As a soloist, he appeared in opera productions of the Greek National Opera and the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, worked in numerous radio broadcasts and recitals in Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Syros (Apollo Theater), Corfu, Kefalonia, Delphi, Dresden, Berlin, Baden-Baden, Kaiserslautern, Landau, Bad Elster, Istanbul, collaborating with orchestras such as the Greek Symphony Orchestra of ERT, Thessaloniki State Orchestra, Deutsche Philarmonie Orchester SWR, Staatskapelle Dresden, with conductors including Christian Thielemann, Ivan Repušić, Omer Meir Wellber, John Fiore, Patrick Lang, Andres Orozco-Estrada, Nikolaj Znaider, Justin Brown, Jonathan Darlington and Mark Wigglesworth. 

In his recitals, he focuses in a repertoire ranging from Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, and Robert Schumann to Modest Mussorgsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Piotr I. Tchaikovsky. 

He began his musical education at an early age receiving piano lessons from his mother. At the age of eight, he became a member of the Children's Choir of ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation). Two years later he joined the ''Manolis Kalomiris Children Choir'' of the National Conservatory, which allowed him to participate in numerous opera productions of the Greek National Opera .In 2014, he graduated with honours and special prize and in the same year he was awarded the Maria Callas Scholarship. 

He continued his studies with Ludmila Ivanova and KS Matthias Henneberg, and attended masterclasses with artists such as Giacomo Aragall, Brigitte Fassbaender, Deborah Polaski, Marlis Petersen, Dimitri Kavrakos, Elena Obraztsova, Marina Krilovici and Paata Burchuladze. 

Alexandros won the 3rd Wagner International Competition in Leipzig. 
He is a winner of the prestigious Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition (Second Prize, Audience Prize), Riga 2018.
