Viktor Krivonos (Actor)

People’s Artist of Russia

Born in Lvov. In 1970 he graduated from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (first graduation class of the department of musical comedy acting, taught by Mikhail Dotlibov).
In the autumn of 1968, before he graduated from the institute, he was accepted by the Musical Comedy Theatre where he performed until 1974 at which point he joined the Vocal Instrumental Ensemble Singing Guitars. In 1980 he joined the Moscow Operetta Theatre. In 1987 he returned to the Musical Comedy Theatre in Leningrad as well as the  Chamber Opera of Lenkontsert. Since 2002 he has been a soloist with the Musical Comedy Theatre.
Viktor Krivonos has performed some sixty roles in classical operettas, contemporary musical comedies and musicals.

His repertoire currently includes the roles of Feri (Die Csбrdбsfьrstin), Baron Frederiks (Die Zirkusprinzessin), (Die Bajadere), Platov (The Left-Hander), the Duke (Der Vogelhдndler), the Ballet Director (Spring Parade), Harrison Howell (Kiss Me, Kate), Frank (Die Fledermaus), Mr Bumble (Oliver! ) and the Boatswain (The Sevastopol Waltz).

In addition to working in theatre, he has devoted much attention to variety, singing songs by Solovyov-Sedoi, Petrov, Portnov, Tsvetkov, Mazhukov, Dubravin, Kolker, Banevich, Pozhlakov, Gavrilin, Lebedev, Ptichkina, Feltsman, Shainsky and Zhurbin.
Viktor Krivonos has taken part in Song of the Year festivals and presented the popular TV programme A Wider Circle and two series of educational programmes on radio. He has performed on numerous occasions at theatres and variety venues throughout Russia and has toured abroad.

The archives of Russian radio include such recordings as Lehбr’s Frasquita, Zharkovsky’s The Golden Spindle, Strelnikov’s The Bondwoman, Offenbach’s M. Choufleuri restera chez lui le... , Kolker’s The Firebird and Banevich’s Goodbye, Arbat! featuring the performer.
