Maxim Petrov (Choreography)

Born in the village of Novolisino, Leningrad Region.
Graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2012 (class of Gennady Selyutsky).
Joined the Mariinsky Ballet the same year.

La Bayadère (Hindu Dance); choreography by Marius Petipa, revised version by Vladimir Ponomarev and Vakhtang Chabukiani,
Le Carnaval (Florestan); choreography by Michel Fokine,
Le Sacre du printemps; choreography by Vaslav Nijinsky, reconstruction by Millicent Hodson,
Romeo and Juliet (Folk Dance); choreography by Leonid Lavrovsky,
Concerto DSCH; choreography by Alexei Ratmansky,
Sacre; choreography by Sasha Waltz,
Le Parc; choreography by Angelin Preljocaj
and 5 Tango's; choreography by Hans van Manen.

Repertoire also includes:
Euphoria; choreography by Nikita Dmitrievsky
and Chess Move E2. Hardly; choreography by Ilya Zhivoi.

Has toured with the Mariinsky Ballet to China, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Oman.

In April 2014 as part of the Creative Workshop of Young Choreographers at the Mariinsky Theatre Maxim Petrov presented the one-act ballet Cinéma to music by Erik Satie. He also staged the choreography for the operas War and Peace (directed by Graham Vick, 2014) and The Golden Cockerel (directed by Anna Matison, 2015).
