Irina Mikhailova (Mezzo soprano)
In 2012–2014, Irina Mikhailova was a Soloist of the Silver Strings Russian Folk Orchestra (Musical Director — Alexander Afanasyev). With the Orchestra, she toured to Berlin, Paris, Marseille, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Cognac, and Bayonne among others, where she performed the scene of Marfa’s fortune-telling from Mussorgsky’s Khovanshchina, the seguidilla and the Gypsy song from Bizet’s Carmen, and the Wesendonck Lieder by Richard Wagner. In 2013, as a Guest Soloist she participated in the International Musical Project Verdi Opera Highlights with the Dutch Concert Chorus and the Silver Strings Russian Folk Orchestra, where she performed pieces from Verdi’s Aida, La traviata, Nabucco, and Il trovatore. With the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra Classics under the baton of Alexander Kantorov, she performed A Page from Homer by Nikolay Rimsky-Korsakov at the White Hall of the St Petersburg Polytechnic University.
Since 2014, Irina Mikhailova has been a Guest Soloist of the Mikhailovsky Opera. At the Mikhailovsky Theatre, she performs mezzo-soprano parts in the operas by Giacomo Puccini, Antonín Dvořák, Leoš Janáček, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, and Boris Asafiev. Here she also performed Dunyasha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Tsar’s Bride (production by Andrey Moguchy).
