Vladimir Galuzin (Tenor) – recipient of the Casta
Diva Russian opera prize as "Singer of the Year" for his interpretation of
Herman in Tchaikovskyґs The Queen of Spades (1999).
Born in Rubtsovsk
(Altai Region). Graduated from the Novosibirsk Conservatoire in 1984. Soloist
with the Novosibirsk Theatre of Operetta from 1980 – 1988. Soloist with the
Novosibirsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet from 1988 – 1989 and subsequently with
the St Petersburg Chamber Opera Company. Mariinsky Theatre soloist since
1990.
Guest performer at the Netherlands Opera, the Royal Opera House,
Covent Garden, and the Opйra Bastille, as well as at theatres in Vienna,
Florence, Milan, Salzburg, Madrid, Amsterdam, Dresden and New York. Vladimir
Galuzin is a frequent guest at international festivals in Bregenz (Germany),
Edinburgh (Scotland), Salzburg (Austria), Moncerrato (Spain), Verona (Italy) and
Oranje (France). One of his most recent performances at the Mariinsky Theatre
was as Calaf in Turandot in March 2005. Mariinsky Theatre audio and video
recordings with Philips and NHK include Khovanshchina (Andrei Khovansky), Sadko
(Sadko), The Fiery Angel (Agrippa of Nettesheim) and The Maid of Pskov (Mikhailo
Tucha).

Prize-winner at
the Operalia International Young Opera Singers` Competition, founded by Placido
Domingo (Paris, 2002), as well as the International Rimsky-Korsakov
Competition (St Petersburg, 2002) and at the International Elena Obraztsova
Competition (St Petersburg, 2005).
Prize-winner at the International
Ghena Dimitrova Competition (Bulgaria, 2000). Prize-winner at the
International Lysenko Competition (Kiev, 2002). Prize-winner at the
All-Russian Nadezhda Obukhova Young Vocalists? Festival and Competition
(Lipetsk, 2005).
Trained at the Kiev Conservatoire and subsequently at
the Sofia National Academy of Music (class of Professor Konstanza Vatchkova),
which she graduated from in 2002. In the 2002-2003 season she appeared at the
Kharkov Theatre of Opera and Ballet where she performed as Tatiana (Eugene
Onegin).
Soloist with the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers since 2003.
Made her Mariinsky Theatre debut in 2004 as Donna Elvira in Mozart?s Don
Giovanni.
Repertoire at the Mariinsky Theatre includes: Tatiana
(Eugene Onegin); Kupava (The Snow Maiden); Zemfira (Aleko in
concert); Madama Butterfly (Madama Butterfly) and Donna Elvira (Don
Giovanni).
One of her most recent works at the Mariinsky Theatre was as
Leonora (La forza del destino), performed at the XIV International Stars of the
White Nights Festival.
Repertoire also includes: Donna Anna (The
Stone Guest); Polina (The Gambler); Nedda (I pagliacci); Leonora (Il
trovatore); Violetta Valery (La traviata); Amelia (Un ballo in
maschera); Elisabeth (Don Carlo); Mimi (La boheme); Suor Angelica (Suor
Angelica); Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi); Liu (Turandot) and Maddalena
(Andrea Chenier) and Militrisa (The Tale of Tsar Saltan).
In 2002 she
made her debut at the Sofia Opera House as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). In
2004 and 2005 she took part in master classes given by Vladimir Atlantov, Maria
Cleva, Konstantin Pluzhnikov, Grayr Khanedanian and Larisa Gergieva at the
Summer Academy in Mikkeli (Finland).
Takes part in gala concerts with
Academy soloists and Mariinsky Opera Company soloists. She has made recordings
with Bulgarian National Television (Sofia, 2001). Gave a recital at the Teatro
Liceu (Barcelona, 2005). Made her debut at the Vladikavkaz Theatre of Opera
and Ballet in 2005 as Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), and performed the same role at
the Vologda Philharmonic in summer 2006. Has toured with the Mariinsky Opera
Company to Cyprus (2006), performing as Amelia (Un ballo in maschera).
