Sergej Krylov recital (violin) Violin Sergej Krylov has established himself as one of the most talented violinists of his generation. He works with the world’s greatest orchestras, among them the Staatskapelle Dresden, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Filarmonica della Scala, the Accademia di Santa Cecilia, the London Philharmonic, the Hessischer Rundfunk Sinfonieorchester, the Symphony Orchestra of the St Petersburg Philharmonic, the Royal Philharmonic, the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Russian National Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
Sergej Krylov came to the attention of Mstislav Rostropovich, with whom the violinist came to be closely acquainted and with whom he frequently performed. Sergej Krylov collaborates with such acclaimed conductors as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Jurowski, Mikhail Pletnev, Andrey Boreyko, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Omer Meir Wellber, Yuri Temirkanov, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Nicola Luisotti, Julian Kovatchev, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Saulius Sondeckis, Zoltán Kocsis and Yuri Bashmet.
Major engagements this season include his debut with the London Philharmonic under Tõnu Kaljuste, the Budapest Festival Orchestra under Dmitrij Kitajenko, the Mozarteum Orchestra under Marc Minkowski and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Vasily Petrenko. Other forthcoming highlights include concerts in Cologne and Bonn with Kitajenko, in Moscow with Boreyko, in Bregenz with Pletnev and with the Turin RAI Orchestra and Dima Slobodeniouk. He recently made his debut at Berlin’s Philharmonie with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin under Omer Meir Wellber and returned to the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, with James Conlon conducting the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala.
The violinist devotes a great deal of time to chamber music projects, appearing with Denis Matsuev, Yuri Bashmet, Itamar Golan, Lilya Zilberstein, Aleksandar Madžar, Bruno Canino, Stefania Mormone, Maxim Rysanov, Nobuko Imai, Elīna Garanča and the Belcea Quartet. Since 2009 Sergej Krylov has been Music Director of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, regularly taking the dual role of soloist and conductor in a wide repertoire ranging from baroque music to contemporary works. His discography, in addition to the recent release of the twenty-four Paganini caprices, includes numerous recordings for EMI and Melodiya. Born in Moscow in a family of musicians, Sergej Krylov began studying the violin at the age of five and later entered the Moscow Central School of Music. While still very young he won the International Rodolfo Lipizer Violin Competition, the International Antonio Stradivari Violin Competition in Cremona and the prestigious International Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna.
