Dmitry Masleev (Piano)

Dmitry Masleev was born in 1988 in Ulan-Ude where he grew up. Studied at the Moscow Conservatoire (class of Mikhail Petukhov), and at the International Music Academy at Lake Como. In 2015 he won 1st prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Following his win at that competition he began to undertake tours and appear with renowned orchestras throughout the world.
In January 2017 he made his debut at New York's Carnegie Hall.

Germany and France have become particularly important destinations for Dmitry Masleev, whose Munich debut at the Gasteig Philharmonie has already led to two return engagements there - one with Prokofiev Piano Sonatas, and the other with Beethoven’s First Piano Concerto and the Münchner Symphoniker. His Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin debut with Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini was practically sold out. His appearance at the Philharmonie de Paris paved the way for a solo recital at the Fondation Louis Vuitton and an Asian tour with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Mikko Franck. Dmitry Masleev’s performances have been admired at La Roque-d'Anthéron, Beauvais, Rheingau, Bad Kissingen, the Klavierfestival Ruhr and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival.

Dmitry Masleev is beginning his third season with a return to Berlin for a televised performance at the Young Euro Classics Festival, recital debuts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and orchestral tours across South America. ARTE’s prime time TV show Stars von morgen, hosted by Rolando Villazón, will feature Dmitry Masleev as the "pianist to watch".

The Bamberg Symphony and the SWR Orchestra Stuttgart are among the orchestras with which Dmitry Masleev will collaborate in the current season. 2017-18 highlights also include an artistic residence at the Bodenseefestival with solo, chamber and orchestral performances and a coast-to-coast US tour with the Moscow State Symphony.

In October 2017 Melodiya released the pianist's first solo album featuring works by Scarlatti, Prokofiev and Shostakovich.
